Watch Harrison Ford Remember Carrie Fisher At Mark Hamill's Hollywood Star Ceremony

The Star Wars community and the entertainment world in general was struck by a major blow on December 27, 2016 when Carrie Fisher passed away. Fisher was one of the main reasons the original Star Wars trilogy was so successful, and more than a year after her death, she was remembered by her costar Harrison Ford today during the ceremony honoring Mark Hamill receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. During the ceremony, Ford noted how he wished Fisher could have been present at this special occasion, as you'll see in the video below.

It's been over 40 years since George Lucas delivered the first Star Wars movie to the masses, and 35 years since Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill all appeared together in Return of the Jedi. It's unfortunate that the three of them never got to share screen time all together again in one of the new Star Wars movies, but you can tell that when they did work together on the Original Trilogy, the actors formed a close bond. Ford is certainly right that it's sad Fisher couldn't be around for the Hollywood Star ceremony, though judging by the reaction in the crowd, there are plenty of people still holding her close to their hearts.

While it's a shame that Carrie Fisher couldn't be present for Mark Hamill's Hollywood Star ceremony, it was nonetheless great to see Hamill and Harrison Ford back together again. When it came time for him to speak, Hamill recalled the first time he met the future Indiana Jones and Blade Runner star, which you can hear below thanks to Variety (stay tuned to the end for Hamill's always wonderful Ford impression).

Like Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher returned to the Star Wars franchise for 2015's The Force Awakens, where Leia Organa was one of The Resistance's leaders. Fisher reprised Leia for The Last Jedi, and there were plans for the character to have an expanded role in Episode IX. However, with Fisher's death, The Last Jedi marks her final Star Wars appearance, and there are no plans to digitally recreate her likeness for Episode IX. With Han Solo being killed in The Force Awakens, that leaves Mark Hamill as the only member of that trio who could pop back up again in Episode IX. Granted, Luke Skywalker died at the end of The Last Jedi, but if he's following in Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda's footsteps, then he could dispense some final pieces of wisdom to Rey as a Force Ghost.
