Why Marvel Movies Are So Successful, According To Infinity Wars Paul Bettany

While moviegoers and cinephiles have grown used to the big budget adventures of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the studio has really done something major. The idea of serialized storytelling was all but a pipe dream before it inception, and the overall quality of each film has really soared in the past few years. Phase Three has yet to see a misstep, as each blockbuster has made a ton of movie and been met with critical acclaim. Actor Paul Bettany has been working in the MCU since the very beginning, as the voice of JARVIS before eventually taking on the role of Vision in live-action. As such, he has an idea why Marvel movies tend to be so successful, saying:

I think the success of the Marvel films comes from the fact that they're made by fans. They really love those characters. When I first came out dressed as Vision, Kevin Feige nearly cried. I didn't grow up reading comics but they make you fall in love with your character. They really do. Their love for these stories is really infectious and you become really invested, and there's a lot of invested people beyond the financials of it all. They really want to do a good job, and I think fans really trust that if they bend things that they're in safe hands --- that the story is in safe hands because I guarantee you it's made by geeks. This movie is made by geeks. They love them, they feel it when they're talking about it.

It looks like it call comes down to enthusiasm about the subject matter, for the MCU's directors and producers. Rather than simply trying to get through the daunting task of putting together each blockbuster, there's excitement there because they're all fans. They too grew up with these stories, and are dying to see characters like Vision and Scarlet Witch on the silver screen for the first time.

Paul Bettany's comments come to us from the set of Avengers: Infinity War which CinemaBlend's Sean O'Connell visited in Atlanta. Considering what a massive project that upcoming installment is going to be, it's comforting to hear just how much everyone involved at Marvel truly cares about the work being done. Since these stories are told with love, fans can go into the next two Avengers movies knowing that whatever insanity occurs, decisions weren't made lightly.

Avengers: Infinity War is being teased as the end of the MCU as we know it. With a variety of contracts up for the universe's leading actors, it seems like anybody could be killed before Phase Three comes to a close. This includes Paul Bettany himself, as one of Thanos' Infinity Stones is lodged in his forehead and brings the cyborg to life.

Avengers: Infinity War will arrive in theaters April 27th. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

With the Vision appearing in both Avengers: Infinity War and the so far untitled Avengers 4, Paul Bettany had a lot on his plate, especially when it came to makeup.
