Will Human Cloning Be A Major Part Of Jurassic World 3?

Perhaps the most shocking reveal in the entirety of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom was the fact that Isabella Sermon's character Maisie was actually the world's first successful human clone. As if bringing dinosaurs back from extinction wasn't enough of a thrill, now the possibility of bringing back dead relatives in newly cloned incarnations has been dealt to the table. So with such a mechanic in play, the question had to be asked: will there be more human cloning taking place as part of the storyline for Jurassic World 3? When asked that question by CinemaBlend, Fallen Kingdom's director, J.A. Bayona, had this to say:
I don't know if the clone element is important for the third movie. It's definitely important for the saga, because it's a major step forward. We were, all the time, very aware of the legacy of Michael Crichton. Michael Crichton was one of those fantastic writers, not only a writer but also a director, who was all the time thinking about the relationship that man has towards nature and science. So I think it would be very interesting to see what Michael Crichton thinks about the world we live in nowadays, and we thought that telling the story of Maisie was like a way of trying to find out what Michael Crichton would think about the moment we live in right now.
As CinemaBlend was on hand to speak with Bayona, during the press day for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's home video release, there was a lot of discussion about the direction that the franchise could take. While J.A. Bayona is sadly not going to be directing the next, and possible final film in the Jurassic saga, he certainly has an idea as to where the franchise is going. Part of that is because during his time directing the second film in the trilogy, he had series co-writer, and director of Jurassic World, Colin Trevorrow, giving him notes on the necessary seeds that needed to be planted for the next installment.
But whether Maisie's presence is vital to Jurassic World 3's plot or not, it does help the next film in the respect that it keeps the series on a track that feels very similar to what Michael Crichton would have wanted the series to embody in the modern world. Come to think of it, aside from Jurassic Park's original flirtation with the ideas of Crichton's writing, the Maisie / Lockwood plot of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom feels like one of the aspects most indicative of the best-selling author's influence on the post-literary sourced franchise entries.

Whatever Maisie's fate may be, and just how much human cloning will effect Jurassic World 3 is a mystery. But when we get closer to the film's June 11, 2021 debut, we'll surely be keeping our ears open for any further hints as to what will be in play.
