What Tom Holland Thinks Spider-Man's Kill Function Actually Does

Even though Spider-Man can do whatever a spider can, he has a history of using technology to aid in his battles against crime, from his trusty web shooters to briefly riding around in a Spider-mobile. Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though, that's been kicked up a few notches because Tony Stark designed Peter Parker's superhero costume. During Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter unlocked a lot of hidden features, which included almost triggering the "Instant Kill" function. Seeing the teenaged Peter slaughter his criminal adversaries through his Spider-suit would have been shocking, but Tom Holland thinks that the "Instant Kill" classification might not be entirely accurate. In Holland's mind, it's not meant to actually snuff people out, as he explained:

I don't actually think the "Instant Kill" function does what everyone thinks it does. I think it simply just shuts off electricity. I actually don't think it's a killing-like piece of tech. I don't think it is to murder people. I don't think Tony Stark's that dark... I don't know if "Instant Kill" would work against Thanos.

Tom Holland's musing about the "Instant Kill" function came when he was asked at the London premiere of Avengers: Infinity War HeyUGuys why Spider-Man doesn't use that feature on Thanos, who is threatening to kill half the universe against Thanos. Keeping in mind that Thanos is one of the universe's most powerful beings even without the Infinity Stones, and thus Holland is likely correct that "Instant Kill" wouldn't work on the Mad Titan, as seen in HeyUGuys' video, the actor believes that "Instant Kill" is actually just an EMP device. That would certainly come in handy if you want to shut down any phones, computers and even cars before engaging with the enemy, but given how Spidey's eyes turned black and red when that function was triggered, I can't help but think that Holland is wrong on this one. With a look like that, it definitely seems that "Instant Kill" is indeed lethal, but I'm sure Tony Stark could still outfit the Spider-suit with an EMP device if Peter wanted one.

The "Instant Kill" function came into play during Spider-Man: Homecoming when Peter Parker was tracking two of Vulture's goons in the middle of a heist. Before attempting to move closer, Peter took Karen's (his suit's AI.) advice and decided to switch to "Enhanced Combat Mode," which subsequently triggered "Instant Kill". Peter quickly shut that feature off, but his groove was still thrown off because his web shooters had been changed to rapid fire, the default setting for "Enhanced Combat Mode." Peter's only just begun in his superhero journey, but looking at how he's portrayed both in the MCU and in the comics, I highly doubt that he'll ever resort to using "Instant Kill", whether it's against a human opponent or a large, purple, muscular alien.

How Fifty Shades Freeds Jamie Dornan Feels About Saying Goodbye To Christian Grey

Fifty Shades Freed hits theaters this weekend, marking the end of the latest set of movies based on books. The end actually came pretty quickly, as Fifty Shades of Grey was released in 2015, Fifty Shades Darker in 2017 and Fifty Shades Freed in this first part of 2018. A lot of fans will likely flock to the theater in the coming weeks to catch the final movie, but there's closer for the cast, too. In a recent interview star Jamie Dornan revealed exactly how he feels about the movie franchise ending. He said:

It's tough in some respects, but it's also really nice and kind of bittersweet, I guess. I think when you finish any movie or TV series or whatever, you've invested so much [time] into the character and the job itself and the other actors and the crew.

We've known for a while that Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed were filmed back-to-back after the first movie did well in theaters. Filming just one movie is a lot of work, but filming two means you get to spend a lot of time with the cast and crew, and from what Jamie Dornan has told ET, it will be a little bittersweet to leave it all behind.

It's nice that he seemingly had such fond feelings about his time on set, but from what we know about Jamie Dornan's personal life, it should be nice getting back to his family after all of the hustle and bustle that was involved in creating and doing press for the Fifty Shades movies. He and his wife Millie had their first child just before he started filming Fifty Shades of Grey. Then, he had his second kid just before filming the other two movies, and he's previously said the franchise has kept him away from his kids and his whole family a lot. So, in that way it might be nicer to be away from the

The past three plus years have also been filled with random sex questions for Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, so I'm guessing the actor won't miss talking about his "wee-bag" on live TV or discussing the nature of the sex scenes he shares with Johnson. Still, the role in Fifty Shades Freed and the previous movies made Jamie Dornan a household name, and there's a lot to be thankful for. How Oprah Unexpectedly Got Cast In A Wrinkle In Time

Ava DuVernay's A Wrinkle in Time has assembled a star-studded cast. From Wonder Woman's Chris Pine and The Office's Mindy Kaling to Baskets star Zach Galifianakis, the adaptation of the classic book of the same name has some big personalities as its legendary characters. That said, there's arguably no personality in the ensemble bigger than Oprah Winfrey, but it turns out that the Mrs. Which actress did not go through a traditional casting process to become part of the film. In fact, during a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Oprah revealed that she was initially just going to hang out on the set as a vacation until DuVernay decided to cast her. Oprah told us:

Oh, Ava is the visionary director of our time. Are you kidding? Who doesn't want to work with Ava DuVernay? Everyone does. And I was just gonna hang out and watch her say 'action.' That was my plan. I'm just gonna go to New Zealand and watch you go 'Action! Cut! I said cut!' And I said 'I'm gonna take off two weeks and come watch you film when you're in New Zealand.' And she said, 'If you're gonna do that, why don't you read the script and maybe consider doing this role.' And I said 'Okay!'

Oprah Winfrey and Ava DuVernay were already well acquainted with one another prior to the production of A Wrinkle in Time. Oprah starred in DuVernay's film Selma, and they clearly developed a strong friendship and working relationship. Then, when DuVernay got the historic job of adapting A Wrinkle in Time, she offered Oprah the role of Mrs. Which when the former talk show host decided to hang out on the set.

Ava DuVernay's recollection of the situation was quite similar to Oprah's story. In fact, when CinemaBlend asked the director for clarification, DuVernay noted that she already had Oprah in mind for the role when the actress offered to visit the set. As the 13th director explained:

She thought we were just having a conversation about New Zealand. I was prepared to ask her to play the part. She just wanted to hang out. We had to bridge that gap. Okay? We had to bridge that gap. So as soon as she said, 'Oh I'll just come to New Zealand.' I thought, 'I got her. When you're there, why don't you do some work?' She said yes.

And the rest is history. The casting of Oprah has become one of the most talked about elements of A Wrinkle in Time's overall ensemble, and it arguably makes perfect sense. As Ava DuVernay noted elsewhere in her interview with CinemaBlend, Mrs. Which is supposed to be one of the wisest and most powerful beings in the universe, so casting a cultural icon like Oprah seems in-line with that idea.

With that bizarre casting situation now behind them, Oprah Winfrey's Mrs. Which will debut when Ava DuVernay's A Wrinkle in Time premieres in theaters tomorrow on March 9.
