Heathrow Airport Wins Today's Star Wars Tribute Game With This Awesome Display

The Star Wars franchise is a fictional landscape in which characters can fly all over the galaxy to visit a broad range of planets and locales. With that in mind (and since it is actually Star Wars Day today) it only makes sense for one of the busiest airports in the world to honor that commitment to flight and travel. That is where Heathrow Airport in England comes into the equation, as the international hub changed its displays to include Star Wars-themed flight information. If you have ever been to an airport, then you have definitely seen this arrival/departure boards before. That said, you have probably never seen one quite like this. The folks at Heathrow seem to have gotten into the Star Wars Day spirit in honor of May 4, because the boards have been changed to showcase some fan-favorite Star Wars locations. All of the classics are represented, with planets like Tatooine, Hoth, Kamino, and Endor all represented, not to mention the Death Star, though that one apparently might be a trap.

Additionally, the flight details for each of these locations match their characteristics in the Star Wars universe. The Hoth flight has been delayed due to snow, and the Jakku flights received delays because of sand. One thing is clear: whoever is working on those boards at Heathrow knows their stuff, because those are some deep cut references.

Of course, one of the best aspects of that picture appears towards the bottom of the board. Specifically, it looks like the flight to Alderaan has been canceled. As anyone who has seen Star Wars: A New Hope or even Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will tell you, that flight's not going to get rescheduled anytime soon. Now we are just left wondering what the non-Star Wars fans are thinking when they see that information displayed at the airport.

Above all else, this makes it abundantly clear just how deep the love for the Star Wars franchise runs. We will see that happen once again later this month with the release of Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is expected to perform incredibly well in its opening weekend with a potential box office haul of $170 million. On this May 4, we can definitively state that the Force remains strong with this film series.

Actually I haven't rewatched that movie since it was in theaters. The book has such a powerful ending that the movie fell so far short, so hard, it was depressing.
